You get to the starting line in a 100 mile race on ability - you get to the finish line on character. Harv Dawg
Ultrarunning is a microcosm of life, full of challenges, high points and low points. Enjoy the journey and embrace what the future holds. Bill Ramsey
On the day I realized there were more trails behind than ahead, the next mile was that much sweeter. Harv Dawg

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Look, I don't want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you're alive you've got to flap your arms and legs, you've got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive. Mel Brooks

About Me
Steve Harvey (The Old Goat)
El Cariso, California, United States
I founded the old goats in 1984... There were ten of us from Orange County, California and we comprised about 80% of all the ultra-runners in the County. Today there are hundreds of the crazy buggers... When we started, our hydration system was a couple of Aunt Jemima syrup bottles hanging from a web belt... our trail nurishment came in a package looking surprisingly like a snickers bar... We had about five brands of running shoes to choose from and none were designed for the abuse we submitted them too.
We lost one of our founding members Paul Peek to brain cancer this year - it is a stark reminder that Ultra running isn't a cure for dying - It just makes the days before that event a lot more enjoyable!
